Delhi Police's Special Cell told a court that a group of men, including two police constables, had posed as income tax officials and carried out a fake "raid" on a businessman's home in East Delhi in August, allegedly planning to loot cash and gold. The accused were booked for offences including cheating by personation under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.

The submissions were made while the Chief Judicial Magistrate at Patiala House Courts heard the bail application of one of the accused, who had been arrested in mid-August. The police opposed bail, saying other co-accused were yet to be arrested.

Advocate Pravesh Dabas, representing that accused, argued that there was no incriminating evidence linking him to the crime, that he had been wrongly framed, and that he had cooperated with the police.
